Die gehandelte Droge hei\u00dft Nikotin. Das gilt heute mit dem Trend hin zu \u201erauchfreien Alternativen\u201c wie Tabakerhitzern, E-Zigaretten oder Snus mehr denn je, denn oft ist in den Produkten gar kein Tabak mehr enthalten, sondern in erster Linie das abh\u00e4ngig machende Nikotin in der einen oder anderen (synthetischen) Form. Die Industrie ist sich ihrer Rolle seit jeher sehr wohl bewusst, wie firmeninterne Dokumente beweisen. Schon in den 60er-Jahren sagte etwa der leitende Wissenschaftler von British American Tobacco (BAT): \u201e<strong>Rauchen ist eine Gewohnheit, die s\u00fcchtig macht. Eine Behauptung, die frei aus der Luft gegriffen ist, wie vor wenigen Monaten ein Whistleblower von Philip Morris International (PMI) enth\u00fcllte. <strong>\u00dcber die beliebten Tabakerhitzer IQOS von PMI sagte er: \u201eSie verringern den Schaden nicht. Sie verringern die Gesundheitsrisiken nicht. Sie verringern die Sterblichkeit nicht. Das wird von der Tabakindustrie nach wie vor vehement bestritten, obwohl auch hier firmeninterne Dokumente belegen, dass Jugendliche eine Hauptzielgruppe f\u00fcr Werbung und neue Produkte darstellen. Das liegt auf der Hand, sterben der Tabak- respektive Nikotinindustrie ihre Kunden ja ausgerechnet durch den Konsum des verkauften Produkts laufend weg und bleiben Menschen, die schon in ihrer Jugend mit dem Konsum nikotinhaltiger Produkte beginnen, meist lebenslange \u201eKunden\u201c. Das ist wissenschaftlich klar belegt.<\/p>\n<p>Global konsumieren ungef\u00e4hr 50 Millionen Jugendliche zwischen 13 und 15 Jahren Zigaretten oder rauchfreie Nikotinprodukte. 2023 gab in Deutschland mehr als ein Drittel&nbsp;der 14- bis 17-J\u00e4hrigen an, schon einmal eine E-Zigarette verwendet zu haben. <strong>Zwischen 2021 und 2022 hat sich die Zahl der Konsumenten in dieser Altersgruppe sogar verf\u00fcnffacht!<\/strong> Die farbige und trendige Aufmachung der Produkte, die zunehmend sogar in Automaten direkt neben den S\u00fc\u00dfigkeiten und Softdrinks zu finden sind, f\u00fchrt dazu, dass die Nikotinprodukte von Kindern und Jugendlichen als harmlose Lifestyleprodukte wahrgenommen werden. Dazu tragen auch die zugesetzten Aromastoffe \u2013 von Vanille \u00fcber Wassermelone bis Minze \u2013 bei, von denen laut WHO rund 16&#8217;000 im Handel sind.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Doch E-Zigaretten oder Vapes sind keineswegs harmlos.<\/strong> Die Fl\u00fcssigkeit in den Vapes besteht vorwiegend aus Propylenglykol und Glycerin (also nicht einfach Wasserdampf). Dazu kommen eben die Aromastoffe, von denen bislang noch nicht wirklich klar ist, wie sie sich auf den K\u00f6rper auswirken, wenn sie langfristig inhaliert werden.
